Community Guidelines

Last updated: 19 May 2026

Aro is a place to meet people with intention, calmly, kindly and honestly. These guidelines describe the behaviour we expect from every member. By using Aro you agree to follow them. Breaking these rules can lead to a warning, removal of content, suspension, or a permanent ban.

1. Be your real self

  • Use your real first name and recent photos that clearly show your face.
  • You must be 18 or older to use Aro. No exceptions.
  • One person, one account. No impersonating others, celebrities or fictional characters.
  • Don't post photos of other people without their consent, or photos that aren't of you.

2. Be kind and respectful

  • Treat everyone with respect, even when you're not interested.
  • No harassment, bullying, intimidation, stalking, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic.
  • Disagreement is fine, contempt is not. A simple "not for me, thanks" is always enough.

3. Keep it safe for everyone

  • No nudity, sexually explicit content or sexual content involving minors. Ever.
  • No threats, glorification of violence, self-harm, or content that promotes eating disorders.
  • No weapons, drugs, or content depicting illegal activity.
  • If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first, then report to us.

4. Honest intentions only

  • Be upfront about what you're looking for, a relationship, friendship, something casual, or still figuring it out. Vague is fine. Misleading isn't.
  • If you're married or partnered, don't use Aro unless your relationship is openly non-monogamous and your matches know upfront.
  • No catfishing, romance scams, or pretending to be someone you're not to gain trust.

5. No spam, scams or solicitation

  • No promotional content, MLM pitches, crypto schemes or "investment opportunities".
  • No links to external sites, OnlyFans, paid content, escorts or sex work.
  • Don't ask for or send money, gift cards, or financial information.
  • Don't move conversations off-platform just to bypass our safety tools.

6. Privacy matters

  • Don't share other members' photos, messages, or personal details outside Aro.
  • Don't post other people's contact information, addresses or workplaces.
  • Screenshots of private chats are a serious breach of trust and may lead to a ban.

7. Consent is everything

  • Consent is enthusiastic, ongoing and can be withdrawn at any time, online and offline.
  • If a match unmatches or stops replying, that is their answer. Respect it.
  • Never pressure anyone for photos, personal information, or to meet in person.

8. Report, block, take care of yourself

If something feels off, trust your instincts. Use the in-app report and block tools, reports are confidential and reviewed by our team. You don't need proof to report someone who's made you uncomfortable. We'd rather you flag it.

9. Meeting in person

  • Take your time. There is no rush to meet.
  • Meet in a public place for the first few dates.
  • Tell a friend where you're going and share your location.
  • Arrange your own transport so you can leave whenever you want.
  • Drink responsibly and never leave your drink unattended.

10. Enforcement

We review reports and signals from across the platform. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, restrict features, suspend the account, or ban it permanently, without refund for any active subscription where allowed by law. Severe violations (including content involving minors, threats of violence, or non-consensual intimate imagery) are reported to the relevant authorities.
